As a BlackBerry is designed to work from the configuration files (service books) that are automatically sent to it all you can do is set the APN as you have already done. If you know anyone that has a Blackberry on Telstra ask to borrow their SIM card for a few minutes, this way you can turn on the device with their SIM and all the settings from Telstra will be downloaded (e.g. MMS and WAP).
