Hi,

The first thing to do is a hard reset by removing and then re-inserting the battery. If that still fails you assume one of the contacts under your trackball is dirty or defective. You can attempt to remove and clean the trackball or you can just by a replacement for around $20AUS. As your device is still under warranty is would always be best to have your carrier replace the device under warranty.
