Install the blackberry handheld manager for desktops, then go to BlackBerry and go to the downloads section and download the latest software for the phone and then use the application loader in the blackberry desktop manager to load a new version of the software over the one on your blackberry...then ask you next company to re-sync your blackberry but if you are using it as a normal phone...gather that would sort your problem
2. If your previous compaany (this could be a long shot) has Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.1.4 or above, there is a security policy that will erase the handheld and set it to factory setting, but your previous companies IT guys would need to do that
3. Give it to your new companies IT people and ask them to Nuke the handheld....this will wipe all software from the device...and then from there you can use the application loader again to install the latest version of the handhelds software
Thanks

Panther,
Thank you very much for your reply.
At the moment I am not on a BES server and I tried all the suggestions you mentioned that were not BES specific, with some benefit - I now can use Opera and Gmail software, but still no bluetooth, etc.
Vodafone does not seem to have a BES available for customer support (this looks awkward, doesn't it? These are the guys you buy the stuff from and pay your bills to) so they were of no help, too.
My old company has policies which prevent it from retaking control of my BB, regardless of the fact that they are the source of the problem.
If some of you know of someone who could register my BB with their BES server just to issue the "wipe all" policy and then release it, that is probably the only remaining option until I finally work with a BES-enabled company. Private messages can be sent to giulianog67 at yahoo dot it
Thanks
