Unhappy Cannot import contacts - cannot download BB desktop software!!

Hi. I'm a newbie to BB and have just bought a Bold 9900 today. Unfortunately when I try to download the desktop software from the Blackberry site, at the time of installation it gives me a funny error message saying Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable is required. I guess I dont have this, but I have spent all evening trying to download Visual C++ 2008 redist....and every time i go to install the darn thing i get an error there too. I have no idea what to do, because I have my contacts and text messages from my Nokia E71 saved in csv files on my laptop but no way to get them into my Blackberry.
Is the Blackberry Desktop software available on CD's or something in BB stores, or would there be another way around this mess??

    thanks
    Neha

    Hi,

When the Desktop Manager installer prompts for prerequisites you just need to continue and the installer should download and install the file for you.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Combination between Google Contacts and Wireless Synchronization can help also for this problem.
More detail you can read from my notes in: Import Blackberry Contacts using csv file ~ Ady Purnama

Your explanation is really good, and I got all the steps right (I think) But when it came to the last step, the one where I press Sync, an error message came up which is 0x80040057.

Any solutions to this? Really frustration cause I have over 600 contacts to sync asap ):

    Thank you!

Where did you export the CSV from? If this file was exported from Outlook first reimport it back into Outlook and then set Desktop Manager to sync with Outlook.

Transferring contacts from Nokia E71 to Blackberry 9900

Transferring contacts from Nokia E71 to Blackberry 9900

Hi this took me ages to figure when it was so simple.... I could not get my E71 to be recognised by the blackberry desktop software, tried so many other ways, but the only way I got 650 contacts transferred was:

    1) Paired the two phones by bluetooth
    2) On the E71 go to the contacts list, by pressing the contacts button
    3) Now click "Options" on the E71 then scoll to "Mark/Unmark" and select "Mark All"
    4) You will see all contacts have a tick symbol next to them
    5) Now click "Options" on the E71 again, and then "Send" > "Business Card" > "Via Bluetooth"
    6) The phone will now take some time to convert the contacts for sending. Please be patient during this time.
    7) Eventually you will receive a promt on the Blackberry to accept the transfered data.
    8) Click Accept
    9) Viola - All contacts will be transferred
