When copying data to your BlackBerry smartphone or media card, the following error message appears:
Confirm Stream Loss
The file "filename.avi" has extra information attached to it that might be lost if you continue copying. The contents of the file will not be affected. Information that might be lost includes:
:Roxio: EMC Stream:$DATA
Do you want to proceed anyway?
Cause
The Media Manager stores tags, also known as metadata or data streams, to your files to help you organize them on your computer. When a file is indexed, or tagged, by the Media Manager, it is stamped with a unique identification (ID) and becomes accessible or recognizable through Media Manager. Only media files which are indexed by the Media Manager will contain this information.
The Media Manager updates the location of any moved files on your computer, thus eliminating errors of missing files in Media Manager projects. Once the new the file is indexed by Media Manager, your projects will automatically point to the new location of the files.
The tag is only unique to
your computer and only useful on your computer. The same identification tag may exist on another computer for a different file.
The tags can only exist on New Technology File System (NTFS) hard disk partitions and are
not included if you e-mail a file or write the file to a compact disc (CD) or digital video disk (DVD).
However, if trying to copy a file which contains a data stream to a non-NTFS drive, BlackBerry smartphone, or media card, you may receive the
Confirm Stream Loss error.
Resolution
To resolve this error, select
Yes. Only the tagged data will be removed from the file as it is copied, since tagged information can only be stored on NTFS partitions.
To stop tagging your files, follow these steps:
- Connect your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer.
- Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, and double-click Media Manager.
- Click Tools > Stop Watching Folders.
- In the Watched Folders Setting screen, in the upper-right pane, click Stop.
- Clear the check boxes for the folders on your computer that you want to monitor for new media files.
- Click OK.
