Unhappy T Mobile 7100 - no software

Greetings!
My well meaning wife and daughter decided to surprise me with a new phone for Christmas and went to e-bay to a supposedly reputable vendor who sold them a T Mobile 7100 Blackberry which came with 2 batteries and a recharger. But no software (I mean nothing - not even a single game!) and no manuals.

I quite like the keypad and the diary but I have no way of transferring pictures or mp3 files or anything. I want to be able to have my own song excerpts for my ring tones and I want to be able to install a java Bible as an application - at least! Being able to update my diary on a PC would be wonderful as well.

I eventually found and downloaded Blackberry's official "Desktop manager 4.7" My phone said on the screen that it was connected to the Desktop but the DM could not detect the phone.

Please somebody tell me - Can I transfer files and apps (even a KJV jar) to and from my phone? Where can I get the software?

Hi,

The BlackBerry 7100 is very limited in functionality due to its age (early 2005) so you won't be able to transfer pictures, MP3 or files etc to the device. The device that replaced the 7100 was the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 which provides all the functionality that you require.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi and welcome to the forum,
Delete the Desktop manager you have downloaded and download an older version. (DM v4.2). You can pick it up from Optus here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...4E92D025A75D1F
You can pick up free Bible from here; YouVersion Free Bible App Goes Out Of Beta | BerryReview.com
Let us know how you go.
Kind Regards,
Greg Myers

Still no go

Have DL and Installed DM 4.2 SP2 and it still does not open up my Blackberry in the device window. YET is says that it is connected on USB:...

So is there something else I need to do?

I have the Blackberry attached via a USB cable, Windows sees it as a RIM handheld.

But when I start Media manager to window where the phone contents should be displayed is blank but for the message No device connected?

So now what?

I can confirm that your device is not supported in Media Manager.

The BlackBerry 7100 is not supported by Media Manager and the only way to download ringtones to the device was via the web (note: MP3 is not supported).

Hi,
You wont be be able to download wirelessly (via carrier) unless you get a BlackBerry data plan which is not available to pre-paid. (post-paid only)
Alternatively, you can download from the links above and load the software via cable to your PC.
Kind Regards,
Greg Myers.
