I am 3 network customer.

Hi I am currently a 3 network customer.
I was considering buy an unlocked BB7290 (second hand) on Ebay.

I know BB7290 doesn't have 3G but what I found on the 3 mobile website was that when your mobile is not 3G then it'd automatically roam on Telstra network.

The problem is I have a 3 USIM card. If I place my 3 usim card into a BB7290, would it still work if it doesn't work how can I solve the problem?

Is it possible to go to a 3 mobile store and ask them to change my usim card to just a normal simcard ???

Would I have to sign up for a new plan?? I am currently on $49 cap plan and still have to use 20 more months!!!! Is there anyway to use a BB 7290 without changing my cap plan??

All I want is using a BB7290 on 3 mobile network without changing the cap plan and have simple mobile phone functions (phone calls, text messaging) and e-mail.

Hi,

Unfortunately you're out of luck there as non 3G phones (such as the BB7290) apparently won't take USIM's. At least that's the official story; you can still try it out

Should this work then you will only have simple mobile phone functions anyway as you would need to sign up for a BB plan for the complete BB experience.

Bear in mind that by forcing the phone to constantly roam you won't abide to Three's "Terms & Conditions" but apparently they very rarely enforce them.

I personally wouldn't purcahse a 7290 and it is a very old device and won't give you a great user experience. Please review the following thread for all the feedback from 3 users with Blackberry devices: Three and BlackBerry
