Question BB 7290 sync issue

Hi There,

Can someone please assist with the following issue I'm experiencing with my Blackberry 7290. Although an older model I'd like to use this perfectly functioning devise for my wife who's on a pre-paid plan, therefore not used for email and/or internet. However I'd like to take advantage of the devises sync features which allows it to sync (via USB cable) to the computer, through to my wife's yahoo online account for contacts and calendar usage.

I recently installed the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager (5.0.1 B49 Multilanguage) and have it working, however it seems to only sync the contacts (not well at all) and does not sync the calendar at all. Could this be the version of the Desktop Manager I'm using?, should I be using some other online option (GMail, hotmail, etc) to get a better result.

Hope that you can assist and look forward to your advise.

Hi,

Are you downloading the Yahoo email, contacts and calendar etc to Outlook?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the reply. I'm not downloading it onto Outlook, I'm simply using the Desktop Manager to sync (via USB cable) direct from yahoo to the Blackberry. Should I be doing an additional step of syncing it to Outlook?

Very frustrating and glad that someone is helping...

You don't need to sync with Outlook but I needed to confirm this information as the settings are different. Assuming the 7290 is compatible (I believe the old firmware 4.0 may not be compatible) with the Yahoo synchronization option following these steps:

1. Connect the BlackBerry to the computer, and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
2. Click Synchronize.
3. Click the Synchronization link on the left side of the screen, then click the Synchronization button.
4. Select Calendar, and click Setup.
5. Select Yahoo! as the available translator, and click Next.
6. Select synchronization options, and click Next
7. Select Options and then add the Yahoo ID and password and click Ok
8. Click Next.
9. Click Finish.
10. Click OK to close the Select Device application window.
11. Click the Synchronize link on the left side of the screen, and click the Synchronize button.

Hi Gary,

Thanks once again. This is exactly the steps I've done and not having any luck with the calendar sync with yahoo. The contacts seems to sync (not very well), however when it gets to the calendar it simply jumps to the finish screen and doesn't seem to sync. I'm using the following:

BB 7290: v4.1.0.377 (Platform 1.8.0.154)
Desktop Manager: 5.0.1 B49 Multilanguage

Do you have a newer device to test this setup with? I am of the belief that the 7290 firmware will not support the Yahoo calendar integration.
