Downloaded Nav4all and error after error after error.

Gave up.

I've had this 8310 since August 2007 and still cannot for the life of me get any use out of it's GPS facility.

On you device go to "Options > Advanced Option > Applications" and find Nav4All in the list. Then press the menu button (left of the trackball) and select "Edit Permissions" and ensure that it is set to Allow beside GPS.

Cheers, Gary.

Gave it another shot and surprisingly works OK. That said, did encounter a number of poor directions in an across town one hour trip this morning, which prolly added ten or fifteen minutes to the journey. Also, as expected, pretty savage on battery life. Will be interested to see Telstra data costs for this trip.

But all in all, not too bad.

This is the case with all GPS units in general. My top of the line TomTom always tries to take me some strange way that is guaranteed to take longer. As a general rule I just ignore the GPS software as long as possible and start heading the way you know (or think) and it will then correct itself and replot your course.

Been using Nav4all extensively for past couple of weeks and got to say it is damn good. Best part, no cost, either for software or data used.

9/10.
