8300 End Of Life on Telstra?

Our purchasing officer tried to order 5 x 8300 from telstra, but was told that it's now "End Of Life" and that they're only selling the 8310.

I called up their Business Sales line (1800 107 223) who said that they've still available & have plenty of stock. It's also advertised on their website (unlike the 8310). My understanding is that it's only been released on Telstra less then 12mths ago, so it would seem strange to kill it as the 8100 is still being sold along side the 8110.

Has anyone else heard this?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

I can confirm that the 8300 has been discontinued (some stores may have old stock) and the 8310 is available in its place. The 8310 & 8110 are available to Telstra business customers via Telstra direct or their corporate resellers. e.g.

Mobile Network - Blackberry 8310

Mobile Network - Blackberry 8110

Thanks,

Gary

Point of interest: I was down at a little mobile phone store last week and they still have brand new, in the box 7 series BB devices available. I know WA stands for Wait Awhile but this is ridiculous.

Thanks Gary. When did you guys find out? & did you get much warning?

Gee Telstra are turds. 8 weeks ago 2 x telstra account execs & a RIM rep told us that the Bold was the only new device to be release in the near future on telstra & all other devices would continue with no "end of life" in sight. Less then a month ago one of the Telstra execs repeated this.

I assume the 8310 come with OS 4.5, which will cause a wave of "I want one of those"

Greg - geez that's rough.

We knew the 8310- was coming for the past 6 months but it kept getting delayed. Even the release of the 8110 was only kept quiet and was only provided by Telstra direct or via corporate dealers.
