Unhappy 8310 NO Internet Email MMS

I have a BB 8310 that was on the Vodafone network and now switched over to the TPG (Optus) network yesterday.

Before I changed providers I called TPG and asked them if I could get Internet, Email and MMS on my 8310, they replied yes, call us and we will help you set it up. Now I'm being shoved from pillar to post and no one has answers or is willing to help.

When I go to Internet on my phone now i get this error msg:
Unable to open a PDP Context to the following APN: blackberry.wap

I also cannot receive/send emails of mms

Is there a way I can set this up myself? or am I stuck on a crappy network with no internet?!?

Thanks in advance for any replies!!!

Hi,

Do you have a Blackberry plan assigned to your account? When you change providers your device will download service books (a.k.a configuration files) from your carrier which configures WAP (this is what MMS uses) and other data services. If you don't have a BlackBerry plan you will notice gprs at the top right is displayed in lower case which means you have no data\BlackBerry plan.

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks Gary,
No I dont have a blackberry plan with my acount - i do have the optus service books installed - and yes the gprs is in lower case. So does this mean there is NO way at all I can get internet, email and mms to work? If so, is this a blackberry thing?

Cheers

You can try and manually set a APN (Options > Advanced Options > TCP) but a BlackBerry was design to be used in conjunction with a BlackBerry plan.
