Invalid PIN or IMEI format message

I am trying to register my new blackberry and typing the PIN and IMEI exactly as in the Status screen but I keep getting an error message. What am I doing wrong?

Hi and welcome to the forum,
The first thing to check would be that you haven't entered a number '1' instead of a letter 'I' or vise-versa.
Failing that, contact Vodafone and get them to log in your device from their end.
Let us know how it goes,
Kind Regards,
Greg Myers

Thank you for the suggestions Greg. Unfortunately, neither worked. After spending another hour on the phone with Vodafone (in Egypt!) they insist that it is a hardware problem. I bought the Blackberry from Tiger Mobile so I'll have to do battle with them to get a refund. Very frustrating! Thank you anyway. Kind regards John

Hi,
Hold off with the refund. There has been a big BlackBerry BIS upgrade over this weekend and registering new devices is a know issue. Hold off on the connection until Monday (US EST) and you should be right to go.
Let us know if you still encounter issues from there.
Kind Regards,
Greg Myers

Hi,

Please ensure that they have added a BlackBerry data plan to your phone account. Once the plan is added restart your device by removing the battery and the device will be registered onto the network. Once the device is registered you should be able to create a BIS account.

Thanks,

Gary

Greg, Tiger Mobile replaced the handset and the new one is working fine. Thanks again for your help.
Kind regards
John
