Download Software

How to install another carrier’s firmware:

1. Download the latest 8520 firmware to your PC
2. Install the firmware onto your PC that is running BlackBerry Desktop Manager
3. Go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and delete the vendor.xml file and then disconnect your PC from the internet (e.g. unplug the network cable).
4. Connect your device and via the command prompt go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and run loader.exe
5. Follow the prompts

will i download the firmware from singapore telecom? I am from the philippines and i only have a prepaid account from Globe. will my phone still work after the update?

my curve now has the 4.6 firmware, however, i cnt connect to facebook and ym using wifi... what seems to be the problem?

Hi,
You require a BlackBerry data plan to be able to access FB (and internet). Contact your carrier in regards to costs and availability.

I just updated my curve 8520 to the latest firmware. thanks for your help. so far so good... i just dnt like the way i unlock the keyboard because i need to do it using the mute button...

someone got problem like this?
after.. upgrading the above OS version..
when i turn on WIFI without BIS subscribtion..
i need to restart my phone to browsing net using wifi connection..
if not.. come out ' unable to connect.. pls review your network setting'..
why? data services.. is ON..

During the update process it can remove the service books required for Wi-Fi access as they are automatically downloaded when you have a Blackberry data plan. If you have access to a blackberry enabled SIM card from the same carrier insert it into the device and once it connects to the network it should update the service books.
