Quick question... What third party applications did you have loaded on the 8520 ?

A friend gave me a brand new BB Curve 8520 a few months ago.
I unlocked it, transferred from my BB curve 8310 and all systems go.
It's been working perfectly until just recently it started getting the white screen of death. I know it's that because i googled it and found lots of others had had the same problem. I have never dropped it or got water on it.
It doesn't matter what I am doing whether I'm on twitter, writing an email, in the middle of a call, suddenly the screen goes white then nothing. A battery pull doesn't revive it.
I thought it may be the software and upgraded the OS. I've now realised it's the hardware because it revives itself when plugged in to the USB cord or the charger. Also it takes awhile to start up again, longer than normal.
I don't have a warranty because it was given to me by a friend. Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions?
In the meantime I have transferred back to my BB Curve 8310 because although it's slower it doesn't shutdown in the middle of a call and I don't want to throw it out the window in frustration.

Hi,
Please try upgrading your device firmware by following the steps in the link below:
OFFICIAL: Curve 8520 Firmware 5.0.0.681
Thanks,
Gary
I had ubertwitter and gmail.
I removed ubertwitter.
I've had the device running for 2 days without a sim and it's still on which is strange normally it would get the white screen and be unresponsive.
Upgrading firmware now thanks
I think I have fixed the problem.
The battery wasn't fitting properly and the case wasn't closing in place. I switched it with the battery in the other device (same type) so far so good. The battery doesn't fit in the other device either could it have expanded?

If the battery is swollen at all, dispose of it immediately and purchase a new battery. Don't try to repair it or circumvent the safety features as it could result in explosion or fire...
Kind Regards,
