DST patch on 8700 does not work

All,

we are finding a problem with the 8700 devices.
Daylight Savings has altered the time from the home screen display.
it appears ok in mail, and in calendar, but just the home screen, time is now showing one hour behind.

We're talking with RIM, looks like we may need to update the OS on each device! they suggest using v.4.1.0.373 or higher.

what a job...that 60+devices for us....

If you go to Options > Date\Time is the correct time displayed? If the time is correct press the track wheel or menu button (left of trackball) on new devices and select "Update Time". Also if you are on BES you can wirelessly deploy the DST handheld update.

8700 Dst

HI Gary,

that's After DST patches were deployed from the BES, and BES updated.

We spent 9 hours with RIM trying to figure this out, even manually adding the patch via visiting the URL link on the device.
Looks like we're setting up a production line this morning to upgrade the OS on each 8700 this morning....

The 4.1MR4+_Patch.zip and 4.2+_Patch.zip patches resolve the DST 2008 issue if you are running one of the following BlackBerry® Device Software versions:
BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.344 through 4.1.0.365
BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.373
BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.375 through 4.1.0.385

Ours were 4.1.0.309

You can install BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager on the BES and have the users do their own updates. For more information click here: BlackBerry - BlackBerry | BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager

Hi,

We have also being experiencing similiar issues with our devices too.

Question to all - when the time source is set to Blackberry or Network, what is the definition of these sources? Ie Does Network mean my local network where my BES is located or the Telco Network and Where is the Blackberry time source?

Thanks all.

  • BlackBerry - Synchronizes the time with the Research In Motion® BlackBerry Infrastructure and not the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  • Network - Synchronizes the time with your service provider's network time.
  • Off - Does not synchronize the date or time.
