Security Time Out Settings

Hi All,

Our corporate devices have a Security Time out setting showing as 2mins, however on the BES it is set to 5.

Can anybody tell me what setting is overiding this one?

Hi,

When you set a Maximum Security Timeout value within "Desktop Items Only" it still defaults to 2 minutes on the device but the user can change it to the maximum value that you set (It is also recommended to set "User Can Change Timeout" to True).

If you want the default timeout to change from 2 minutes to another value (e.g. the maximum timeout you set above) you need to do this from the "Password Policy Group" as seen below:

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the reply. I have only implemented the User can change the timeout in the device policy and left the password policy options alone.

Will that cause any issues?

That just means the default timeout will be 2 minutes and the user can change the timeout up to the maximum time you have set.
