Question 8707g - couple of problems. Pls help!

Hi there,

My gf just bought an unlocked 8707g from ebay (can use with 3, optus, telstra). Its good condition, but theres just a couple of problems that are quite annoying.

1. A box comes up saying '*** application cant access *** because your IT policy wont allow it'

I looked this up and found a method that seems pretty simple (Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ). However, it involves wiping the phone. Does this have an effect on the phone being unlocked? If i do this, is there a chance she cant use her 3 SIM card?

2. No SMS tone
Even trying all the profiles, there is still no SMS tone. I cant figure it out. I put it on low, medium or high sound and none of them work. And if fixing it involves wiping, again, will it lock the phone again?

Help appreciated!

Hi Adrian,
Wiping the handset should not affect your unlock. The unlock is done through the network providers on your EMEI/PIN numbers and they will remain after any sort of wipe.
The tone issue. Try after the handset wipe. Let us know how you go...
Kindest Regards,

After removing the IT policy, is it possible for my gf to access the internet on her phone even though she bought it from ebay and has 3 sim card?

Assuming the phone isn't SIM locked you will be able to use any SIM in the device.

Hey guys i wiped the phone and fixed the IT policy thing. However, there are two other issues which are bugging me right now:

1. Bluetooth isnt working properly. I cant send stuff from my laptop or other phone. It will either say "sending failed" or "remote device does not support service".

2. There is no web browser on this phone and ppl say i need to install a third party one or ask the carrier. I tried looking at a couple but theres none i can find for the 8707g.

Thanks guys. Other than that the sms thing is fixed and the IT policy is gone.

1. The Bluetooth capabilities of older BlackBerry device can be limited and was more designed to sync with Desktop Manager or transfer from BlackBerry to Blackberry.

2. When you add a BlackBerry plan to a phone account settings (service books) from the carrier are sent to the device. Amongst these service books that are sent are WAP and/or BlackBerry Browser settings which add the browser/s to your device.
