Angry All keys except number keys not responding

Hey guys,

I have installed googlemaps and iress for blackberry, otherwise everything is as normal from the telstra network.

The phone has been on charge in my room over the weekend and i noticed today while at work I hadn't received any new emails since saturday. So after trying to reconcile the inbox i noticed nothing new came through despite having at least 30 emails through my inbox over the course of the morning. I tried emailing myself from the blackberry, but that ended up giving me a red cross next to the email.

I then tried turning the blackberry off and on again and this is where the problem showed itself again.

I have a password set so after rebooting i get to the password prompt and note that the only keys work are the number keys, the rest of the keys don't give any response (by way of *'s showing up). Obviously this prevents me from entering my password in an therefore accessing the blackberry.

I note that SOS is displayed in the top right corner and that it isn't showing EDGE.

This is the second time this has happened to me, once with my old 8800 and now with the new 8800. I have tried pulling the sim card out and the battery out (30 seconds), but that doesn't seem tow ork. I am looking to gain some insight into what may be causing it. Im assuming its a firmware / software issue.

thanks

When you are unable to enter any characters except number what is the password attempt value? e.g. 10 or 3 tries.

Normally these issues are cause by the SIM having a PIN number but the device sometimes fail to request this input resulting in SOS being displayed.

Thank you!

I did get another sim card and put it in which then worked. on swapping it back to my original sim card, it seems to work fine (and requested a pin before password)!!!

thanks for your help
