Number of times it rings

Hi

Excuse this for being such a dumb question, but I can't seem to work out how to change my 8800 smartphone so that it rings more than 3 times. From what I have read on BB forums I have disbaled vibrate and the most I get is about 3 rings and other people in the company using the same phones (on the same plan I assume) just seem to get more rings then I do?

The amount of time a device rings prior to diverting to your message service is controlled by your network carrier. You can either call your provider and get them to extend the ring length or if you post back with which provider you are with I will give you the details.

You can try this, my phone would go to message bank to quick.

type this in the phone

**61*321**25# SEND

25=The time in seconds before diverting to message bank, i think the max is 30sec

321=optus
101=Telstra

The code above is correct for Optus but with Telstra you should use the following:

Message Bank Users:
**61*101*11*25# (Press Send)

Memo Service Users:
**61*102*11*25# (Press Send)

This command will extend your ring time before diversion from 15 to 25 seconds. When you change the diversion time it should be done in blocks of 5 to a maximum of 30 (e.g 15, 20, 25 or 30).

Thanks for the update, I'll change my cheat sheet. Whats the extra "11" for? Also whats the Memo services.

My version still worked ok as the message received from the Telstra network read the same.

I can't recall what the "11" was for but I will find out for you. The Telstra Memo service is where an operator answers your missed or unanswered call and then you get an SMS containing the message.
