Angry Address Book problem

Hi everyone!

I am having the following problem with my 8800's Address Book.

I store a contact in my address book (for example someone named John) with the mobile number in format +44 1273 *** ***. When I receive SMS message from this person I can see contact's name under "sender" when I open the sms message. However, if this person calls me, the blackberry doesn't show a name - it writes 01273 *** *** instead.

If I try to store the same contact with the number format 01273 *** ***, then everything goes vice versa. When this person calls me, the blackberry correctly shows the name of the caller. However, if the same person writes me a sms message, then the phone shows that the sms has been received from +44 1273 *** ***.

I believe the reason for this would be that my operator shows sms sender in the format +44 1273 *** ***, but the callers are shown in the format 01273 *** ***.

Any idea or solution for my problem?

Thanks very much.

Take care,

Zgaga

Address Book Issue.

Hi out there,
it seems like I got a solution for your issue :-)
Follow these steps (sorry.. translated from an italian culture setting)

1. Select "List of Calls" menu
2. Go to the "Option"
3. Go to the "Fast dial"
Here you should change the Country Code to "Unknown" setting.
this will allow the 8800 to dial contacts without stripping prefix numbers.

Cheers,

Carlo.

Thank you for your post Carlo.

It seems the instructions should be:

1. Select "Call Log" menu
2. Press the menu button and select "Options"
3. Select "Smart Dialing"
4. Change the Country Code to "Unknown" which is at the top of the list
5. Exit and Save
