Unhappy Interesting problem with Phone Search Screen Operations and Caller ID

Morning all,

Now I've searched for a solution to this problem and nothing seems to really fix it apart from a reset. I'm running the latest Firmware V4.2.1.101

Problem No 1 Address Book Search

Correct Operation

In the phone app, when your searching for a name say "Andrew" as you type in the entry point the search field below scrolls through the address book combinations and eventually narrows down to all the "Andrew's" then you scroll down with the trackerball to the name you want.

See Pic 1

My Problem

As you type (as above) the search field below the entry point only shows the first name from your address book starting with the the first letter you typed, ie "A" in the search field it will show "Adam". Under "Adam" will be the rest of my address book in alphabetical order. After you do the search if you scroll down using the trackball the search field updates ???

Fix

Reset "Alt-Caps-Del"

Problem No 2 Caller ID

I think this is related to No 1 as a reset also fixes this.

Caller ID doesn't work for either local numbers or mobiles. I have updated "Smart Dialling" to include "+61" National No Length set to "10" (Sydney based)

They both seem to happen at the same time and only a reset works for say 3-4 hours, any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I personally haven't seen an 8800 have this issue before. Has it always done this or is has it just recently started happening? If it is just recent there may be some corruption in one of the devices databases. The simple fix for this issue is to do a backup and then a full restore, if that fails you will have to wipe and reload the device.

Its been a problem for a long while, before the firmware upgrade, it maybe a 3rd party app coursing the problem. I have tried multiple themes and its still there.

I don't have any apps that i would think interfere with the phone or address book but who knows what testing the 3rd party programmers do.

I can't afford the down time of a full reset due to work.

The listed apps i have are

Yahoo Messenger
Facebook
Google Maps (Where's the RIM Version?)
bbTracker
Blackberry Tracker
BBWeather
Transformers (Game)
DataVault (Free from Handango)

Oh I'm also running BIS through Telstra and on BES via work.

For those how are interested I've done some tests and its all about Encryption.

It would seem the BB sometimes gets into a knot and wont decrypt the the address book during phone number search and caller ID.

If i turn off device encryption i don't see the problem for days, as soon as i turn it on, the problems back within hours. I tried just turning off address book encryption but this doesn't fix the problem, i have to turn off all encryption.

Problem solved for me as I'll just leave off encryption.
