Funny attachments on emails from lists I use with Blackberry

I occasionally send emails to a particular mailing list and find that my email has been sent back to me by the list server with a little text attachment. This attachment contains the text that the list server would normally append to every posting (e.g. list FAQ URL, how to unsubscribe, etc).

Most people on the list don't notice it, but a few have mentioned that they won't read my postings for fear of a virus in these attachments (which is impossible, but never mind that).

The common factor with my posting compared to those I send by other means is that the body is encoded in base64. My guess is that the listserver has trouble with the base64 and adds its footer as an attachment rather try to decode it before appending.

It doesn't happen every single time. When it doesn't, I see no footer in the body either.

Has anyone else seen this kind of thing?
Can I tell my phone not to use base64?
Is it the phone or the BES server that sets the encoding?
Why is it using any kind of encoding in the first place?

What is the format of the email being sent? (e.g. HTML, Rich Text or plain text) Also how is FAQ URL etc being added?

I assume you mean the mail sent back to me from the list, as I don't believe I have any control over the format sent from my Blackberry.

I'm having difficulty looking at the emails in raw format as I only have Outlook and Exchange, and it only lets me see the headers, not the whole email. A test email I sent to the list came back with this stuff at the end of the headers:

--===============5587219960398252569==
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="UTF-8"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message

--===============5587219960398252569==
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Content-Disposition: inline

--===============5587219960398252569==--

Does that help? I suspect that the first section is for the message I sent and the second is for the list footer. I would have thought I should see the text in those sections, but Outlook seems to want to hide everything but the headers.

If that doesn't help, can you suggest any better way to get a look at the raw messages?
