Conference Calling problems

We are having issues making Conference Calls on our Verizon 8830 World phones. When following using these instructions:

Make a conference call:
You cannot add more than two contacts to a conference call.
During a call, press the Menu key.
Click Conference Call.
Scroll to the top and click on Use Once to type a phone number not in your address book or highlight a contact.
Press the green Send key.
During the second call, press the green Send key.

When using these instructions when calling the second number nothing happens. We have this problem on multiple units. But some other units of the same model and BB software work just fine. So far Verizon and RIM have not been able to come up with a solution. thanks...

Hi,

What version firmware are you running on these devices? Normally these issues can only be caused by incompatible firmware or an incorrect configuration by the carrier on your phone service.

Thanks,

Gary

Conference Calling problems

We updated to the latest version of the firmware that Verizon provides and it didn't solve the problem. We are using 4.2.2.176 and tried updating to 4.2.2.192. We did finally figure out how to make the conferencing work by adding a couple of steps. Here are those steps:

During a call, press the Menu key.
Click Flash
Press Menu Key again
Click Conference Call.
Scroll to the top and click on Use Once to type a phone number not in your address book or highlight a contact and click to dial the number
There then will be a warning screen saying 'This Action Fails if Conference Call in Progress'. Click Yes
Once the second call connects, press the green Send key.

It seems as if the Conference call function isn't properly putting the first call on hold, so you have to Flash the first call then choose the Conference Call function.

Thanks for the feedback. It will be interesting to see if firmware 4.5 resolves this issue (or even shortens the steps).
