How much should I pay for a seond hand 8800?

Hi all,

This forum is great! Been reading it for the last couple of weeks but this is my first post.

I am starting up a small business on the side ( very small ) and I would like to get a 8800 so I can have access to emails when I am at my "normal job".

I am looking at picking one up second hand. What do you think I should pay for one? I have been looking at ebay, I noticed a lot are from Hong Kong etc, should I avoid these?

I need to get one as cheap as possible, as this business is only a hobby and I need to keep start up costs down.

Thanks guys

Hi,

I just had a look at Ebay and you can get a new 8800 for $385 (EXAMPLE). To be honest I would pay anymore than that as it is a very unpopular model since the 8310 was released. The other thing you could consider it talking to various carriers about getting a Blackberry Bold as part of a package\plan deal.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi,

I agree with Gary on this one.... whilst the 8800 is a very good BlackBerry (according to a couple of my colleagues), it does lack a camera (Curve has one), and some consider the key placement (placed hard up against each other compared to the tiny gaps between each key on the Curve) a bit harder to deal with (although the Bold's is similar).

I would check out the deals available on the Bold, as it is quite simply a good leap forward over the older models.

My 2 cents.... but good luck with your decision.

Thomas

Hi,
Although I can't stand doing business at them, try a local pawnbroker.
Or alternatively an auction house. I went to one in Perth about a month ago and 8800's were going for about $70 secondhand.
