Updated firmware, cant start blackberry

I was updating the firmware on my 8800.

It got to the "reconnecting with device" part, but now the phone is just sitting there with an hourglass.

I've tried battery pulls, but nothing seems to work. I've left the phone by itself for 20mins but nothing happens.

Kind of freaking out, any help/suggestions? I'm lost without my phone

-Hank

Ok, after much mucking about I got it working. Wiped the phone then reinstalled the OS.

After about 20mins it booted up, but now it keeps freezing if i leave the phone alone. At first I thought the phone was just not letting me unlock, but it does it in menus.

When it happens if i move the trackball nothing moves on screen but it still lights up.

Any insight?

-Hank

Hi Hank,
If you disturbed the upgrade process then you will need to do a handheld wipe and re-install.
Leave the device connected to your PC when the hourglass is still turning. (This process has been known to take around 45 minutes). Just be patient...
See how you go with that. Post back if you still have issues.

Yes patience is the key factor here.... I had an upgrade that took nearly an hour.

Let us know if you get stuck.

Yeah. I used a program to wipe the phone completely, then reconnected the phone and installed the new 4.5 firmware for my phone. It finally instaleld then took about 15mins to boot up.

Then it kept freezing, but when i took the memory card out it worked fine. I wiped the memory card and now it's working perfectly. Must have been some conflicting software on the memory card.
