Hi,
If you upgrade your firmware to v4.5.0.xx then you will have the option to install word-to-go. This will read MS Word docs (You should also have the option of PDF to go that will allow you to read pdf files).
Check with your carrier for the latest firmware or let me know which carrier you are with and I will post the link.

You can still read the files even if you are not connected to a BlackBerry MDS. Copy the file onto your device sd card from your computer. Click on the explore option in your media reader, then on the word doc file you need to refer to.

According to the DataViz website Documents To Go "includes support for Microsoft Office Word 2007, Excel 2007 & PowerPoint 2007". I have just tested it on my device (I have the premium version) and Excel 2007 Documents work correctly.
