Destinator on 8800

Hello,

I have seen the previous post on this forum with regards to getting the 8800 working with the whereis sensis product available thru telstra.

I have a question on utilising the GPS receiver on the 8800 with other GPS software.

Has anyone been able to get the 8800 working with Destinator PN or even the tomtom software that is available for other smart phones. I have used buth destinator and tomtom on my HP 6515 but the GPS receiver on the 6515 is not very good or reliable. I know the 8800 has a receiver on it and I would like to see if there are other non subscription options available.

thanks

The best two non-subscription options are AmazeGPS and Nav4All - just google them to find. Both have pluses & minuses but overall they are by far the best free GPS applications; teamed with Google Maps they are great.

If on BES, you will possibly need IT to set permissions, if on BIS then you are best off with a blackberry plan. Make sure you set your APN to the appropriate Blackberry settings.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

As Brianh mentioned above AmazeGPS is a non-subscription package but it is also available in a "BES version" so all data is included in you BlackBerry data plan.

Thanks,

Gary
