Battery chargers for 8800s and Bolds

We have several dozen 8800s here and are due to change over to Bolds soon. The 8800s have been plagued by charging socket faults, and I don't want to get any more of them fixed, so I need a temporary solution to tide us over till the Bolds arrive.

I know I can get devices to charge an 8800 battery in. I.e you remove your battery and place it in the device. That would allow a user with a busted socket to charge their battery each night.

I don't want to buy these only to have them become useless when the Bolds arrive. Does anyone know if the Bold batteries will work in the same chargers?

BTW, don't buy a second hand 8800 unless you're prepared to adopt a solution like this. My feeling is that they will ALL fail sooner or later, depending on how often you charge them.

I haven't gotten any chargers here to verify the specs, but I use a 8100 charger for my bold, other people use older charges for their bolds, so it should work fine.

for the record, with 30x8800, we've had no more charging issues then for any other Blackberry device.

Thanks for that, I'll get a few of them.

I wonder if we got a faulty batch, or whether our users happen to charge them more often that yours. One user told me he was plugging it in every time he got in his car, maybe 10 times a day. How long have you had them?

Hi,

I can confirm that the 880 and Bold charger are the same. You can get a "Bold Charging Pod" which allows you to sit the device into the pod and it will charge (i.e. no cables plug into the device). You can see it in the link below:

Mobile Network - Product Accessories

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks, I knew that the *phone* chargers are the same, both having USB style connectors, I'm talking about *battery* chargers. These are the type you can charge a spare battery in while the phone is elsewhere.

I doubt the two phones' batteries are interchangeable, but I was hoping the same battery charger would work on both.

I believe the stand alone desktop chargers are different for each model.
