8800 has to be unlocked twice from holster

Hello all,

Nice forum here.

I would appreciate any feedback on the following issue.

We have a policy set on Blackberry Enterprise server to lock handheld upon holstering.

This is working fine on our 8700 units.
on the 8800, it requires that you unlock the unit 2 times when you pull it from the holster.

The 1st is a text box that offers you the choice of unlock, emergency call, or cancel.
If you choose unlock, you then get the prompt to press * and the green pickupo button to unlock the unit.

I have looked in the security settings on the 8800, and the choice to change lock upon holstering is not change-able. (I assume due to the policy in place from BES.)

Any ideas or suggestions?

The "* & Send" function was added to the Pearl and 8800 device to prevent users accidentally unlocking the device and accidentally pressing buttons. The only way to remove the "* & Send" function is to enable a security password on the device, the end result would then be pressing unlock then entering a password (This may cause more of an issue with users).

If you have set the "lock upon holstering" IT policy item to true you will be unable to change this option from the device. If you change the IT policy item back to default the users will be able to selectively lock the device when required.

I am going to experiment with removing the indviduals who have the new 8800's from the policy to see what impact it has.

I will post back if I get it set up the way I want it.
