BlackBerry Browser icon not shown on the BlackBerry 8800 Home screen

Environment

• BlackBerry® 8800 smartphone
• BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
• BlackBerry® Device Software 4.2 Service Pack 1 and later
• BlackBerry® Browser

Problem

The BlackBerry Browser icon is not shown on the BlackBerry 8800 Home screen.

Cause

The BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 or later will only show one Browser icon on the BlackBerry device Home screen based on the Default browser configuration.

Resolution

The Browser icon shown on the BlackBerry device Home screen can be changed by completing the following steps:

1. Select Options > Advanced Options > Browser > Default browser configuration.
2. Highlight the available browser and display the menu.
3. Click Change Option and select either the BlackBerry Browser, Internet Browser or WAP Browser. The preferred browser should now be displayed on the BlackBerry device Home screen.

Additional Information

This issue will only affect BlackBerry devices with BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 or later and BlackBerry devices activated on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
