The following list contains supported wireless local area network (WLAN) layer 2 security methods:
  • Open authentication (no security method)
  • Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption (64-bit and 128-bit)
  • IEEE® 802.1X with preshared key (PSK)
  • IEEE 802.1X and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
    • Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol (LEAP)
    • Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP)
    • Extensible Authentication Protocol Transport Layer Security (EAP-TLS)
    • Extensible Authentication Protocol Tunneled Transport Layer Security (EAP-TTLS)
    • Extensible Authentication Protocol Flexible Authentication via Secure Tunneling (EAP-FAST)
    • Extensible Authentication Protocol Subscriber Identity Module (EAP-SIM) Note: For more information on EAP, see KB13359.
  • Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) encryption for Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA)
  • Advanced Encryption Standard Counter Mode CBC - MAC Protocol (AES-CCMP) encryption for WPA2
