How to switch from Wireless to USB Synchronization

While I'm in the office my BB 8830 is managed by our corporate BES server and synhcronization is over wireless connection.
When I'm out of the office I want to be able to sync with any local changes that I've made to my calendar and contacts within Microsoft Outlook on my Laptop using the USB connection.
I've installed Desktop Manager 4.3 and set up the parameters of Outlook that I wish to sync. However on trying to "synchronize now" it comes back with a message stating that my organizer is set to only synchronize using a wireless connection and that I should disable wireless synchronization before I can synchronized over USB. Using the Desktop Manager Help does not help much. :-)
I also want to be able to download some pictures and tunes that I have on my laptop to my BB.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolving this little problem ?

Hi,

In your situation you will have to turn wireless sync off for calendar and contacts every time you wish to sync via Desktop Manager. Using this method you will increase the chances of having duplicate records created on the device or Outlook, if you accept this risk please follow these steps each time you wish to use Desktop Manager:

1. On the device open Address Book
2. Press the menu button (left of the trackball) and select Options
3. Change Wireless Synchronization to No
4. Exit & Save
5. On the device open Calendar
5. Press the menu button (left of the trackball) and select Options
6. Change Wireless Synchronization to No
7. Exit & Save
8. Connect your device via USB to your PC and synchronize using Desktop Manager

When you return to the office you can switch wireless sync back on the resume to normal service.

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks for this, I've got the calendar syncing fine now, but for some reason the Outlook Messages is not synching, (I see that the option to "reconsile messages" is greyed out for some reason) and this may also be why Outlook Contacts is not synching (though I'm not sure if I've seen an option to configure this in Desktop Manager).

The "Reconcile Messages" option is only for BlackBerry Enterprise users who have configured Desktop Manager to run in BES mode (This is an option during the install). The primary use for this function is to reconcile messages to have been moved to offline folders or messages that have been hard deleted.

With regards to your contacts you need to open Desktop Manager and then select Synchronize and then the Configuration tab. From the Config tab select Configure Synch and ensure contacts is selected and configured correctly.
