    bold firmware update

    Hi,

Looking at updating my bold firmware/software.....i have the version ending in 144

looking at a newer version to correct possible bugs etc.

i went to BlackBerry and set locale to australia but i dont see the firmware available......i have noticed you guys/gals have 162 available but it seems to be localed to hong kong....is this going to be ok for a telstra next g bold?

i also need to know that i have installed a few apps on my bold will a firmware upgrade put the phone back to empty contents....no contacts or 3rd party apps left behind?

the reasoning behind my update is that i find after using the browser for ny time the unit seems to in my opinion lose sync with the telstra network...the signal bar indicates full signal but i cant make or receive any calls or sruf the net.

the only way i can get back up and running is to cold boot the phone or go into coms settings and turn off connections and restart them again and then all is ok.

will software update correct this issue?

    Hi,

    Couple of things:
    1. What is your current firmware (Options > About, third line)?
    2. Next to your signal bar on the front screen (top right hand corner), is the 3G in capitals, or lowercase?
    3. Did yopu sign up for a BlackBerry plan with Telstra, or just a phone plan?

Thanks, and with this info, the team here will be able to assist further,

    Thomas

    Hi,

I would have thought you would need a monthly Telstra BlackBerry plan which will give you the unlimited emails, internet, BlackBerry browser etc, to have your BlackBerry working the way RIM intended.

Check out my latest firmware update thread here:

    New Official Release OS .185

It includes the latest official release firmware .185 from TIM Italy and a quick guide on how to make any firmware generic as to use them with any service provider.

I can't seem to get my Blackberry to update. I've downloaded the software version .165, unzipped and run. But the DM says there is no software updates to do and the phone still has version .144 ?? Any one with some ideas.
