Exclamation Please HELP me! SMS Icon and ALL Text Messages Vanished!

    Hi all,

I'm new to the Bold and to this forum. My very reason for being here is to hopefully find someone who can help me solve this problem quick as loosing the ability to send and receive text messages on Christmas Eve is just devastating for me!!

I've no idea how it happened but my BB simply froze on me. It has happened before and a quick reboot solves the problem so I powered down and re-started, only to get an error message flash up that I thought nothing of to be honest. Then the horror struck; NO SMS icon / folder any more!!!!???

Now I seem to have lost all of my text messages (sms) ever sent or recieved and can no longer either send or receive sms messages. I've been on practically EVERY forum looking for fixes - I've tried the "show all" option, I've tried "unhide", I've tried a ctrl, shift, del reboot and I've tried taking out the battery for HOURS as some sites suggest - STILL MISSING!!

So come on guys - I REALLY need your help here! The majority of my family live around the world and I imagine they're texting away over Christmas but I'm not getting their messages!

Has anyone heard of this before and can anyone help me. I know it's Christmas day and I feel quite sad for even posting today but the SMS function is my gateway to communication with my family!

Hope someone can help me quickly!

Cheers guys! I wait in hope!

    KS

Hi (and sorry for the late reply),
Sounds like you have tried a fair few fixes (a number for which would have been my initial reaction as a fix) to no avail.
You obviously still have your messages icon. Couple of questions for you.Do you still have the option to send SMS ? What device firmware are you running? Carrier? and are you on a BIS or BES ?

Hi and thanks for the reply - It was a lot quicker than I expected!

I seem to have fixed the issue - I think! I didn't want to go down this route but I backed up all my info and data then wiped the handset. Amazingly enough, the SMS icon and function appeared so I restored all my data and it seems to be working fine now! I hope this fixes it and it doesn't go strange again!

Thanks a million for the response and I'll keep you posted if anything changes!!

    Cheers and Merry Christmas!

That was going to be the line of suggestion . (device wipe).
Glad to see you got it sorted out. If you have any further issues, please don't hesitate to post back.
    Merry Christmas (Late again...) .
    Kindest Regards,

If you do have the same problem rear its head, maybe look at a firmware upgrade as some versions have issues with sms. Again, just post back if you want to go that route.

    Hi,

I just noticed in your profile you mentioned you have BIS and BES. As you have wiped your device please make sure you resend your service books for your BIS account, and to get BES operating again you will have to perform and enterprise activation.

    Thanks,

    Gary
