Problem with Call Logging - Pls Help

Hi Guys,

I've had my BB Bold for 5-6 months and absolutely love it, it's the best phone by far i've ever owned and was the best business investment and decision ive ever made to move to a Blackberry (its my first mobile email device).

Up until now i've had no issues (aside from it refusing to work on 3G with Optus, but for what I do it works fine on 2G and even mobile browsing is fast enough for the few times I use it), but upon returning from overseas last week (where I didn't use it, I left it off), I've noticed it's developed a problem with the call logging.

Where previously it worked without a hitch recording my most recent missed, received and made calls in one easy list, now it only records missed calls and not all of those.

I checked in options and it was clicked on 'missed calls only', but changing it to 'all calls' makes no difference although it gets stuck on 'Organising call logs' which only ends when I force it too.
Changing it to 'none' makes no different, it still lists missed calls.

I'm a bit perplexed as it worked fine before, just wondering if Gary or anyone might have an idea, i'm not sure whether its a software issue and needs an upgrade or whether its a phone issue and I need to contact Optus technical to have it repaired.

I checked and i'm running v.4.5.0.126 (Platform 4.0.0.135)

I'm a bit wet behind the ears with using and fixing a BB, so any help would be appreciated as its causing quite the inconvenience not having ready access to those whove called or been called.

Cheers
AP

Hi,

The firmware 4.6.0.126 is very old and full of bugs. The first thing I recommend is downloading the firmware update below and installing onto your PC running BlackBerry Desktop manager. Once you connect your device and open Desktop Manager you will be prompted to upgrade.

Optus BlackBerry Bold Handheld Software v4.6.0.331 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.6.0.331
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.6.0.190
  • Software Platform: 4.0.0.172
  • File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0.1 90_OPTUS.exe
  • File size: 95.34MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks for that Gary, I knew you'd be able to point me in the right direction.

I downloaded and installed the new software to my PC, but strangely since doing so, my BB wont connect to BB Desktop Manager....it connects to the computer fine as I can access the files through the comp but it shows as disconnected to the BDM.

Do you think that might be related?
Any ideas how to resolve it?

Many thanks in advance for your help

This would indicate that your PC is only detecting the BlackBerry as a mass storage device. If you right mouse click on My Computer (or "Computer" in Vista) and select "Manage" and the Device Manager. From device manager scroll to the bottom and expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and you should see an entry for your BlackBerry. If you double click on the BlackBerry entry the properties window will appear, select the Drivers tab and press "Update Driver".

Gary you are worth your weight in Gold mate, thankyou so much for your assistance.

Managed to get the BB to connect to BDM after doing what you specified and the software upgraded, which has appeared to resolve the call logging issue.

I really appreciate your assistance, if you're ever after any advice relating to Travel, feel free to msg me, i'll be more than happy to make it up to you with anything I can do.
