Question Email Setup

G'day all first time blackberry owner just recieved it this morning and was wondering if anyone could help with a question about email setup. I did not elec t to set up via blackberry services and only took a data plan with my phone that may have been my mistake however in the setup wizard for email I only have one choice and that is "I want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server"

How do I setup email without the blackberry BIS or BES active.
Thanks for any help you could give.

i actually had the same issue. i think theres another way to do this but my method worked for me for BIS:

your carrier will have a webpage which you can log on to and register your device and email address. theres also a option you need to select to send the 'service books' to your device. make sure you do this too.

i simply called my carrier and asked for the web address because id set a cuple up myself this way in the past. i think perhaps you can browse to this on your phone but i found it just as easy doing it on my PC.

good luck

someone with a little more knowledge may be able to assist you though.

Hi,

To confirm you are will not be able to setup your BlackBerry email without a Blackberry Individual Service (BIS) plan. This plan will cost $29.95 on Telstra and will include unlimited email and web surfing via the BlackBerry Browser (i.e. not the Telstra Business Portal).

Thanks,

Gary

To ensure your data is included in the "Unlimited" plan please go to "Options > Advanced Options > Browser" and ensure the default is set to Internet Browser. If this option isn't present call Telstra and request that the "Internet Browsing Services (IBS)" codes are added to your account.
