Do I have a virus

My bold is running beautifully atm, Ive installed a few useful apps (Quicklaunch, BBfilescout etc)and finally found a theme I'm happy with (HTC 2.0 for Bold), and I'm happy to report that Im seriously loving this phone...

I am however worried that I might have a virus or malware of some sort...

I've recently noticed that my Default Browser Configuration & Default MDS Browser Configuration are no longer set to "Internet Browser", but instead now it is set to "Yellow Pages".

I have tried changing it, but the only other options are "Telstra Business Portal" and "HotSpot"

Please someone put my mind at rest and tell me this is just a setting I've overlooked or stuffed up, because being the default browser, and seeing "Yellow Pages" there, sort of scares me half to death that I'm gonna receive one of those nasty/enormous data bills.

Tia.

I "lost" my internet browser recently while in Switzerland (I am usually in Australia) and was just left with Optus Zoo or Hotspot Browser as options. I resent the "service books" which fixed the problem. Try this if you haven't already.

You can resend the service books by logging into your blackberry account online (I am with Optus) where you manage your email accounts. There is a button there that literally says "resend service books".

Hope it helps.

Thanks CXS,

Unfortunately I've already tried this, I've also done a hard reset, and googled it.

Hang tight - Greg or Gary will be along soon with a solution I am sure. The help they provide here is amazing.

Also I remember when I lost my browser I searched here and it was Greg who also suggested something along the lines of Options - Advanced - Host Routing Table - then "register now" under the menu key. I take no responsibility if that blows up your BB or makes it worse though - below is the link to the advice given.

Internet Browser has Disappeared

Thanks again CXS,

Just this morning I have read in Qld's Sunday Mail on page 27, an article "Hi Tech Crime - Phones Hit By Virus".

This article suggests that detectives have discovered that mobile banking, and social networking via your phone can be and have been susceptible to malicious attacks, this is very worrying to me because I often use my phone to access online banking...

Ill check that link out CSX cheers...

Hi,

All you need to do is call 1800 010 253 > Options 2 > Option 1 and they will be able to correct your issue. It appears that your device no longer has a function BlackBerry data plan so it should be a simple fix.

Thanks,

Gary

HI Gary,

Thanks for your help here, ill call the number you quoted and see if i can get it sorted, I'm guessing its Blackberry Internet Services.

Im still perplexed as to why "Yellow Pages" would take the place of the default "Internet Browser" in Browser Options, this seems very suspicious to me, or am I worried about nothing?

I got the IBS/BIS browser enabled on my Telstra BES plan.
My BIS browser is also now called Yellow Pages (it changed late last week).

since i know WAP is disabled not just on my BB, but on the SIM, I am guessing someone @ Telstra is just messing with our minds

Hi supabrudda,

Very interesting indeed, and certainly nice to know I'm not the only one experiencing this...

I'm unable to call Telstra or Blackberry until later this evening, but I'm sure keen for some type of clarification here...

Anyone else here on a Telstra BIS/BES Plan experiencing their Default Browser being replaced as "Yellow Pages". ???

I have BIS\BES on two Telstra Blackberry devices and I have not experienced this issue.
