Too Many Calenders

I have just changed from BIS to BES through TLS. I had the BES server running while I was still on BIS, this would sync e-mails in the office by Wire less, but not via Phone.

I and happy with BES and all seems to be working fine. I have 3 calenders now, Desktop, Device default , and the one named after the e-mail address. I don't see the reason for three, and I end up with double entries, probably the entries that were in the calendar pre BES. Since I can look at all calenders at once double entries are a pain. It is the device default calander entries that are doubled up with my desktop entries, how do I solve this, ie: clear the device default entries .

Hi,

Your best option is to connect your device to Desktop Manager > Select Backup & Restore > Preform a Backup > Select Advanced > In the right window select "Calendar" and "Calendar - All" > Select Clear and the bottom of the window. Then on the device open the Calendar > Press menu > Select Options > Type RSET > Select Yes to wipe the calendar and load a fresh copy from the server.

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks Gary,

Question though, how many calendars should I have, I would think only 2, one on the device and one on the desktop. If I do as suggested will I still have the three calenders ?

Can I just delete a Calendar ? I would think the Blackberry e-mail is the one I don't want.

Appreciate you help

Ian

If you are on BES you only want one Calendar and it should be called "Desktop".

If you go into "Options > Advanced Options > Service Book" can you please post back with all entries that contain "[CICAL].

Desktop[CICAL]
r12rt@telstra.ap.blackberry.net [CICAL]

That's all.

Gary a little off topic, but I also tried to update Software and it said that I couldn't because I'm now using Professional. I downloaded version 4.6 from the Blackberry site, but cannot install through the desktop software, I take it there is a way of loading this on the server so it up dates ?

You will just need to delete the "@telstra.ap.blackberry.net [CICAL]" and it should remove the BIS calendar. Also go into Options > Advanced Options > Default Services > Ensure all items are set to Desktop.

With regards to your 4.6 upgrade I assume you have downloaded the device firmware to your PC running Desktop manager? Also depending on your BES configuration you may need to edit the I.T Policy and set "Allow Non Enterprise Upgrades" to True.

Thanks Gary, I had my IT man put the professional stuff on so I'll wait till he gets back. I really like running the BES, This thing is exactly as I want now.
