Hi,

Have you downloaded this yet?
Not sure if it's safe or not.

My 2 cents on .85 if you are looking to upgrade. Please note this is just my brief experience. Other's doing exactly the same as me will no doubt have different experiences; that just seems to be the Storm's nature for now.

I was running .83 previously. When I first loaded .83 it was buggy as **** until I wiped it with Jl_Cmder. .85 has proven exactly the same for me. It was a b1tch until I wiped. Also, the more I used it, .83 improved over the weeks, like an old car wearing itself in.

I expect .85 will do the same. So far it seems to have offered very slight improvements on everything; everything running slightly better. The most obvious to me is the camera. The other things are slight enough to possibly be my eager imagination.

One thing is obvious. The signal quality. To me, .83 rocked. .85 is better, but in a different way. In a good signal area, .83 had a stronger signal. But .85 produces a stronger signal than .83 in weaker signal areas. I hope that makes sense. I guess you could say this is an improvement also (I now get a better signal in my home office!)

One thing that is worse is the original wallpaper pic of the lightning bolt making cameo appearances for brief nanoseconds. It comes up a lot more.

Overall, to me the differences in software are fairly minor compared to what I consider the Storm's real issue: and that's hardware. I have 3 'identical' ones (same batch numbers, etc) in front of me and they are each like chalk and cheese...and crackers. Screen resolution is different, colour scales, screen clicks, etc., all completely different. They are supposed to be like 99% similar. They are more like 90% at best.

I previously decided I would give .85 a week--as .83 got better over a week--but I am on the verge of going back to .83 as .85 is getting worse, not better. Finding too many issues with it. Signal is playing up now. Memory leakage is worse. If I do a battery pull to fix this I lose my BIS connection. Have just done 3 battery pulls in a row and still no return of BIS connection. Little clock is coming up all the time to think (roughly 10 -15 times a day). On .83 this happened once in two weeks. Camera is better on .85, but how often do I use that?

.83 is by far the best with me. Better than .65, .75, .78 and .85

To those of you still running the .7 series, upgrade to .83 as there is a noticeable improvement. .85 is too unstable. Make sure you wipe with JL_Cmder before upgrading.

Again, this is just my experience.

Version 4.7.0.85

Hi Guys,

New to this site : ),,,

I purchased 3 crackberry storms on the 5th dec last year . For the wife and oldest son and myself. After day 3 my crackberry lost it's call button as I was removing it from the case it comes with Finally got a replacement the other day. All 3 have very poor reception and seem to cut out after a few minutes of talk time? they are all running the version 4.7.0.78. As well the response time when tilting the phone was very slow as well, All in all it,s a very buggy release

I just installed 4.7.0.85 from version 4.7.0.78 and have found the response time when tilting the phone was much quicker
Also the conectivity for internet is much quicker as well
The 3g conection seems to have improved from my house compared to the 2 other crackberry's that we have here.
Now when I try to play the babylon preview it comes up with an error saying format not supported
But I did put a 600meg movie on my memory card and it seemed to play it alright until I tried to fast forward or try and stop it from playing it goes to a blank screen.
Also when playing music the controls that normally highlight on the bottom of the screen do not show up .
So the wash up is everthing bar the media side of things seems to have improved, I will muck around with some more media files to see if I can play certain format's.

The upgrade is worth doing just for the better stability of the phone and internet usage

There is currently no official release date but they would be currently testing firmware for release in the not too distant future.
