Storm 9500 OS 4.7.0.87 (leaked)

<LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN>

That's the link above. But download at your own risk.

I've loaded it up and can say that I am initially surprised with how stable it is. I was expecting something inferior to this. Been playing with it for a few hours and so far have nothing negative to report about it. Haven't tried a few things like the camera yet though. But I wouldn't be surprised--in fact, I fully expect--that this leak will become official.

Hi,

I have removed your link above as we are not allowed to post links to firmware that hasn't been officially released. Please feel free to discuss the firmware and your opinions but you will have to find an alternative download source.

Thanks,

Gary

Sorry, link was removed. But I can understand that. Google search will be your friend if you want it.

I've gone through .87 with a fine tooth comb, even testing applications I haven't used before, and it's one of these applications that is the only thing I can find fault with on .87, and that's recording voice notes. Once you record and save it, it doesn't show up in your list of recorded notes. Having said that, since I haven't used this app before it's more than likely I'm just being dumb and the setup is just wrong. It's saving my voice notes to the media card.

Everything else works fine. And fine is the word. Nothing in .87 seems any better than in any of the previous firmware updates, it's just that they've finally managed to put the whole shebang together and got it working smoothly.

It's a joy to use. I finally feel I have a phone that works normally.

Again, this is just my experience with .87. It may be different for you.

Ahhhh... it's taken time to find its Achilles heel.

Battery. Half as good as .83. Maybe 80% as good as .85.

Only got about 6 hours of heavy use from it today. Gulp! It's 2:20 PM and it's been on charge the last hour. Painful, it was so close to being wonderful!

I therefore retract my confidence in .87 becoming official.

Although it probably still will. (or should that be 'will still'?)

For my handset battery life is far improved over .85, although still not up to the standard of .83.
OS fluency is slightly better after running the same tweaks as i have been on all of them.
Everything really stable and sticking with this release

Update:

Battery life is fine. Managed to get 14 hours of average plus use out of it today (over 1 hour talk, 2 hours web browsing (Viigo inc), 20+ IMs, 10+ emails, 10+ SMS, 30 mins Word Mole (to keep me sharp). Battery now at 10%.

Apparently the battery level indicator does not function properly until after the next full charge, hence my poor battery performance yesterday.

Load up .87 and go for it. It's pretty good overall. I'm happy

PS: Agree with Altadr above: I found .83 better in signal and battery life department. But I find .87 may be better overall compromise. Sticking with .87

extra update: battery ended up lasting 16 hours total yesterday (though I didn't use it much in the last 4 hours)
