Is there any reason for this? I mean, who would be against this? AU carriers? If so, why? (unless someone works for RIM or has read an article/thread I haven't, I'm fully aware that any information would be pure speculation).

I will look into but here is a quote from yesterday:

"a rep for RIM Australia and New Zealand says there's still no time frame on local availability" (National Business Review - NZ)

(Sorry for the bad language but we seem to be always waiting in AP).

I get a 'failed to play: tunnelling error' whenever i try and play a station with Nobex.

I am yet to find a streaming radio program that works on my Storm

Nobex has four options under the connection settings so you need to ensure it is set correctly. The options are Auto (default), BIS, BES and carrier TCP.

I can't find connection settings for nobex. there's no options menu or anything like that in Nobex itself, and if i go into the blackberry options-> advanced options-> applications -> nobex there's just 'allow', 'deny', or 'custom'. :/

I just checked on their support website (see below) and it appears you are prompted for these options during the initial installation. Did you get such a prompt?

When setting up Nobex Radio Companion, it offers me to change the "Connection Method". What is this and why should I change it?

The BlackBerry handheld connects to the Internet via an Internet access point. Nobex Radio Companion allows you to select the appropriate access point for your BlackBerry account by selecting an appropriate Connection Method. By default, this setting is set to "Auto". As such Nobex Radio Companion will attempt to pick the appropriate method based on your handheld configuration. If you are unable to connect to the Internet, you may wish to manually select which method to use by changing the Connection Method.

Currently Nobex Radio Companion supports the following connection methods:

1. BES - This is the recommended setting for users with a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) account.
2. BIS - This is the recommended setting for users with a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) account.
3. Carrier TCP - This is an alternate method provided by some carriers.

Important Note: If you select "Carrier TCP", you must verify with your carrier that this service is provided. Your carrier will provide you with an "APN", "Username" and "Password", which must be entered in the TCP screen accessed via the BlackBerry Options / Advanced Options screen. Some carriers may charge extra for using this method.

I don't recall getting that option. I might re-install and see.
