Vodafone 3G?

Hi there,

So today, finally! I got my Vodafone $20 sim cap + $10 Blackberry unlimited internet and e-mail. (You have no idea how long it took me to get it through the customer service peoples head that I wanted the $10 add on, not the 24.95 add on. Even when they said yes, okay my supervisor told me that is correct, they still added the 24.95 one on, I found out because I rang back and asked what my plan currently includes because I knew she didn't sound confident, so I had to go through all that again to get the message across, so I'm hoping now it is sorted. If not i'll be on here raging about Vodafone lol anyway that's my rant...!)

But I cannot run 3G.. it's still on the 2G network (I'm assuming this is the 'EDGE' icon?)

Now is there anyway I can disable anything from running through WAP? So if I download something and it doesn't go through the BB it won't let me access it?

Thanks for your help in advance!
Much appreciated.

Hi,
Only use the browser marked 'Browser'. Do not use the link icon labeled 'Vodafone Live'. This will ensure you run through your BlackBerry BIS acc. On individual applications, check the permissions settings under the Applications listings and ensure they are set to BIS or browser (not WAP)
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
Greg Myers

Yes, and only selected 3g to be sure.

I think it might be the simcard?

it's only a;
Vodafone SIM Only $20 cap
if you know what simcard that is.. it looks like the basic.

but then again I have no idea.. lol

Have seen the same issue with a Storm on Vodafone. Go down to any Vodafone store and ask for a new sim card. (This is a free service). This should solve your issue. Let us know how you go.

Probably not (but no harm in trying (apart from the 5 hours you're about to spend on hold). Any Vodafone store will do.

Yeah, being on hold, especially after today, is the last thing I feel like doing again.

It's about an hours drive away, so I guess I'll just go when I need something in that area.

Thanks for that, so all I will ask them is can I have a 3G compatible sim card? because the one atm doesn't work in that manner?

Vodafones coverage is probably the poorest of the big three in Oz. Possibly no 3G in your area? Thats why I never went with the original storm (and lucky I didn't). I did not want to be tied with them

I've been using Optus for 5 years now on BB. No they don't support the storm 2 nor sell it- but it works perfectly and the 3G coverage is.... better than Vodafones!
