Hi Gary,
I upgraded my 9700 on 3 Australia using the firmware build above and all is great but one core thing. I live halfway down a valley and the 3G reception is a bar and the calls constantly drop out whereas roaming telstra 2g is stable. I can use the home WIFI so I like to force the device into 2g at home. Here's the problem. That build offers no direct 2g specific setting and when put into manual it just flips itself back to auto and then goes back to the 1 bar tower. This was previously a contract breaker between me and 3 after they told me I had full cover and I agreed to stay on cause of an early upgrade and the manual 2g lockability on the 9700 which has been just fine for a year.
I've seen a friend's vodafone 9700 and his os6 build permits manual so I downloaded that firmware but have no idea how to downgrade and replace the one you posted above with this one.
Just wondering if you had any ideas?

Nup, this option is gone now. It just has 3g and 2g and 3g in the menu there and any time I put it on manual or choose any of the prompt settings, it just ignores them totally and imposes automatic back on there and flips back to the 3g tower. Therefore the ability to select or enforce network is gone.
I tried downgrading back to the 3 version 5 installer and then up again to the vodafone local 6 build and it did not come back. I'm now trying a downgrade without a data backup to see if that works and starting fresh with version 5 to see if the 2g option has returned.

My Bold decided all on its own it needed a upgrade so it did, I love the features and everything, one thing i hate is the fact that is much slower than it was and also it seems to freeze at certain times, like when a bbm or msg is coming trough at the same time, I Hate I hate this.
anyone has the same problem?
