Nokia E51 BlackBerry Connect Install Guide - Blackberry Internet Service (BIS)

1. Press the Menu button

2. Select Download! (If prompted to connect to the server select “Yes”)

3. From the list that appears select “Blackberry...”

4. When the Blackberry Connect 4.0 overview appears press the “Options” menu and select Download (If prompted to connect to the server select “Yes”)

5. “Downloading Blackberry Connect 4.0 will appear on screen (This can take up to 15 minutes on EDGE or 3 minutes on NextG)

6. Once the download is complete you will see a screen saying “Preparing Installation”

7. When the install is ready you will prompted to “Install Blackberry?” to which you select "Yes"

8. A screen will appear showing you the install details to which you select “Continue”

9. A screen will appear showing “Installing ...”

10. Once installed a message will appear saying “Blackberry Installation Complete. Turn on Blackberry services now?” to which you select “Yes”

11. A message will appear saying “Activate a Blackberry corporate account now?” to which you select "No"

12. You will now be returned the “Download” screen from which we started. Press the Exit key once and the select the “Blackberry” folder from the list

13. From the Blackberry folder select “Settings”

14. Once settings has opened you will be on the General Tab by default. Press the right key until you see the “Device Info” tab.

15. From this tab you need to record your device PIN and IMEI number.

16. Now from your computer go to your service providers Blackberry Internet Service website (e.g http://www.telstra.blackberry.com) and select “Create New Account” and follow the prompts to configure your email account onto your device.

It's not supported on Optus so you will need a Telstra SIM to download the app and then you can use it with BIS or BES on Optus (but it will have to be a Telstra device).

So would I be able to use a Telstra prepaid sim to download BB Connect and then swap to my Optus postpaid BB enabled sim for it to work?
Is there a reason why the E51 has to be purchased from a Telstra shop?

At this stage Telstra are the only Australian provider to release the BlackBerry Connect Software for the Nokia E51. This application is not available on the web so you have to use the "Download" tool which shows applications available for Telstra devices.
