Your new device only supports <number> mailboxes

Your new device only supports <number> mailboxes

Doc ID : KB10651
Last Modified : 2007-04-05
Document Type : Support

Environment
  • BlackBerry enabled devices using BlackBerry Connect™ software 2.1
  • BlackBerry Internet Service 2.x
Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB-04989.

Problem

When changing to a BlackBerry enabled device, you receive the following error:

Your new device only supports <number> mailboxes. You will need to delete any extra mailboxes before changing your handheld device.

Cause

The BlackBerry Internet Service 2.x sends one service book per account and one for the integration of the BlackBerry enabled device. For example,
  • 1 BlackBerry Internet Service account = 1 service book
  • 1 integrated email account = 1 service book
The number of service books may be restricted, depending on the BlackBerry enabled device you are using. For example, the following BlackBerry enabled devices are restricted to a limited number of service books:
  • Samsung® devices - 5 service books
  • Nokia® devices - 11 service books
  • Microsoft® Windows Mobile® powered devices - 3 service books
  • Sony® Ericsson® devices - 11 service books
Resolution

If more email accounts are integrated with the BlackBerry Internet Service than the BlackBerry Connect device you are switching to allows, you must delete some email accounts prior to switching to the new BlackBerry Connect device.

Example: The current BlackBerry enabled device has four email accounts (one BlackBerry Internet Service account and three integrated email accounts). You want to switch to to a Windows Mobile powered device. However, the Windows Mobile powered device is restricted to three service books or email accounts. To switch to a Windows Mobile powered device, you must delete one of the email accounts in the BlackBerry Internet Service.

Note: Creating the BlackBerry Internet Service account (email@<service _provider>.blackberry.net) requires one service book. If this account is deleted, an additional integrated email account can be added.

Note: When deleting the BlackBerry Internet Service account (email@<service _provider>.blackberry.net) or an integrated email account, delete the corresponding service book on your BlackBerry enabled device.
