Synchronizing your Palm Treo 650/680 with your Calendar using HotSync
Doc ID : KB12148
Last Modified : 2007-05-15
Document Type : Support
Environment- Palm® Treo™ 650
- Palm Treo 680
- Palm Desktop and HotSync®
- Microsoft® Outlook®
- Devices enabled with BlackBerry® Connect™ software
Problem
You are unable to synchronize your Palm Treo 650 or Palm Treo 680 with Microsoft Outlook using HotSync when the BlackBerry Connect application is installed. Even if you choose
No during the setup process when prompted to do a bulk load, you are still unable to synchronize the Calendar using HotSync.
Cause
BlackBerry Connect software on your smartphone will take over all synchronization of Calendar and mail events after you install and provision the software. BlackBerry Connect is continually synchronizing your email messages and Calendar information over the air as long as you are connected to the BlackBerry infrastructure, have the transceiver turned on and are in an area of sufficient data coverage.
Because of this, the HotSync conduits that can normally be used to manually synchronize email messages and Calendar information to your smartphone are disabled, and cannot be used while BlackBerry Connect software is on your device. These conduits will normally allow you to synchronize with Palm Desktop, which has its own personal information management (PIM) features, and Microsoft Outlook.
You will find that even if you change the HotSync PIM setting to synchronize the Calendar, once a HotSync operation is complete they will automatically change back to a "Do Nothing" status. The HotSync log will also confirm that the Calendar was not synchronized with the device.
Resolution
Uninstall the BlackBerry Connect software if you wish to synchronize your Calendar using Palm's HotSync. For instructions, see
KB10808.
