Nokia E51 BlackBerry Connect Install Guide

Nokia E51 BlackBerry Connect Install Guide

1. Press the Menu button

2. Select Download! (If prompted to connect to the server select “Yes”)

3. From the list that appears select “Blackberry...”

4. When the Blackberry Connect 4.0 overview appears press the “Options” menu and select Download (If prompted to connect to the server select “Yes”)

5. “Downloading Blackberry Connect 4.0 will appear on screen (This can take up to 15 minutes on EDGE or 3 minutes on NextG)

6. Once the download is complete you will see a screen saying “Preparing Installation”

7. When the install is ready you will prompted to “Install Blackberry?” to which you select Yes

8. A screen will appear showing you the install details to which you select “Continue”

9. A screen will appear showing “Installing ...”

10. Once installed a message will appear saying “Blackberry Installation Complete. Turn on Blackberry services now?” to which you select “Yes”

11. A message will appear saying “Activate a Blackberry corporate account now?” to which you select Yes

12. You will now see a page stating: “Activation not yet performed.” And instructions on how to proceed.

13. As per the on screen instruction in step 12 you need to press Options > Activate and type in your email address and the password supplied by your I.T Administrator. (Note: the @ symbol can be obtained by holding the * key)

14. Once you have entered the email address and activation password press OK and a screen will appear saying “Activating”.

Note: If the screen “Activating” is displayed without changing for more than 5 minutes you need to do the following:

1. Cancel the activation from the options menu

2. Exit back to the main screen and then select Menu > Blackberry > Settings

3. From the settings screen press the Options menu and select “Register Now”

4. Remove and reinsert the Battery from the device and turn it back on. Within a few minutes of the device being turned on a “Registration” email should arrive and the BlackBerry logon will appear at the top right of the screen (i.e. the four dots)

5. Now go to Menu > Blackberry > Activation and enter in a Pop email address (e.g. me@hotmail.com) and just make up any password and select activate. Now go to that POP email address and see if a Blackberry ETP email has arrived. If it has cancel the activation and enter in the correct email address and activation password and it should now work correctly.

Enterprise Server

Gary,

We 've just purchased Nokia E51's for e-mail. We host our e-mail on our server via Microsoft Exchange Server.

Will need to install software on to the sevrer to be able to access our e-mail, sync calenders etc or will Blackberry Indvidual work?

You can use the Nokia E51 with BlackBerry Connect in your current environment. When you logon to the BIS client and setup the email account from your Exchange Server it may fail as POP is disabled. In this event you can manually configure a work account and select the OWA option, this way you can configure the BIS client to get email via your OWA/Exchange URL. If you want to get full wireless sync of all data it would be best to purchase BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

If you call 1800 010 253 in the morning you can get through to the Help Desk very quickly. You need to ensure you have a BlackBerry Enterprise plan assigned to your account and that all the service codes are correct.

Spoke to help desk this morning. There are a batch of E51's which are not compatible with the blackberry software that automatically downloads from Telstra.

You can tell when you go to Menu - Blackberry - Blackberry settings and go to the very right option and under PIN it is blank.

Help desk emailed me the correct program. All installed and working fine.

Thanks

Matt
