Unfortunately you can only use the BlackBerry Connect PDF viewer and not a standalone Acrobat Reader.

Blackberry email sync issue

hi,

I have two issues:

1. The email sync between exchange and my nokia e51 only works some of the time. To sync, my user account in Active Directory (AD) needs to have the account used by the blackberry server to be added to my "security" tab, with Send As permission. We add this, but after a varying amount of time, this drops off, and then it stops sync'ing until the sys admin goes back in and adds the setting back on.

2. My inbox only sync's for new emails since the above change was added. So if I have made changes in my inbox while the sync process was down, then I do a "reconcile now", changes that have happened in the mean time don't come across. I also don't get my historical inbox items that are in my inbox from prior to getting the e51 and setting up the blackberry.

any ideas on either of these items?

Also... is there an option to set how often the blackberry does its "reconcile" feature to sync deleted items between handset and inbox etc?

Unhappy I would not bother....

I had one for 6 months and now I have just bought a Blackberry 8800 and thrown the Nokia in the bin.
The Nokia Blackberry software has a problem and I had to reload it 4 times as the longer it stayed on the phone the longer it took to reboot or startup (in the end it took nearly 4 mins to be able to use it.
I would not bother, Thats my opinion.

Hi,

In relation to the Send As permissions being removed this is caused by that user being part of an Admin group in AD. To correct this we need to either remove the user from the Admin group or modify the AdminSDHolder container (ACL) to allow the BESadmin Send As permissions. Please refer to my post in the link below:

Unlisted message error or Desktop email program unable to submit message

Once this Send As permission issue is corrected it should also resolve your second issue listed above.

Thanks,

Gary

BES for Nokia E51 on Telstra using Webcentral

I'm using a managed exchange with Webcentral, and Telstra being the BlackBerry provider for my Nokia E51. I have no problem using BB in BIS but Webcentral did let me know that the BES they run is later than the last known compatable version that will allow the E51 to connect to their enterprise server.

Does anyone use a E51 without running their own exchange server but uses a managed exchange such as provided by Webcentral?

Any feedback is much appreciated.

I have setup a few Nokia e51 devices for customers on hosted Exchange and they have worked fine. I can also confirm I look after a large number of sites running the latest BES 4.1.6 and the e51 works as designed.

Hi - don't know if anybody can help but here goes.

bought an e51 - my work IT dept has configured my email on there server to work on blackberry. They tested it by setting my account on one of the manager's blackberry phone and works fine.

However...

I cannot get it setup on my e51. In the enterprise activation it states that Blackberry service is currently not connected. Operation not possible.

I phoned Telstra blackberry support twice yesterday. outlined the problem and they took my details and said somebody would phone me back. Nobody is return calls. I tried again this morning and after you get the standard advisory messages there system hangs up.

I am not happy.

Hi,

The first thing you need to do is ensure you have a BlackBerry Enterprise plan assigned to your phone account. Once you have this added restart the phone and it will make a connection to the blackberry network and you can then activate the device. If you already have the correct plan assigned call 1800 010 253 and have the helpdesk confirm that you have the correct BlackBerry service codes.

Thanks,

Gary
