Blackberry enterprise activation

Hi,

I am having BES for MDS application set up in my corporate environement.
Everything goes perfectly upto adding users to BES.
As this is BES for MDS server type, This type of server doesn't needs mocrosoft exchange configured ID for activation as I read it from many blogs.
Thats why I just create a user on BES with name & PIN as it asks for only these 2 things while adding users to BES.
& I set activation password to added user.

Now As per many blogs on net While doing enterprise activation on blackberry handset for BES for MDS server , WE just need active Imap enable ID & Activatio password.

But it falied.

If anyone can help me out wwith this.

Hi,

As a test can you please try connecting a device via USB to the BES, then via BlackBerry Manager right mouse click the user and select "Assign Device". Using this method it will activate via cable and test if your system is working. Also please ensure your Blackberry devices have had a BES phone plan added.

Thanks,

Gary

I will like to tell You one thing is The error which I am receiving on device after retrying for activation is
'server is not responding , contact youe system administrator'

& the server type is BES for MDS application.

The my main concern is on this type of server any Imap enabled ID will work for activation Or do we need exchange configured IMAP ID only.

Can you please try deleting the user account off the BES and then restart the BlackBerry services. After the restart add the user again and retry the activation.

Hi,

I wantee to mark this thread as solved can you plz tell me how to do that ?

Dev,
My company has installed novel groupwise BES server & emails of all employees are configured on it,
Now on Blackberry enterprise manager, I had just add user with email ID having on novel & add it & Set the activation password to it.
Then on blackberry device I went to option>advanced option>enterprise activation
& insert my email ID I used on BES & my actiavtion password same as of blackberry enterprise manager Then it took some time & device got activated & shown the message as activation completed.

Whats the exact error message you get when it fails to activate?

Few activation pointers for everyone for future:
  • Ensure that any forwarding rules on the mailbox are turned off.
  • No Signatures are turned on.
  • If its a fresh new mailbox, send loop email.
  • Check Send As permissions (Mainly for Administration accounts).
  • Uppercase connection on the handset for eg. GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, 3G with BB symbol next to it etc.

I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of from the top of my head.
