Doc ID : KB11308
Last Modified : 2007-05-30
Document Type : Support
Environment- BlackBerry® Connect™ software 2.1
- Nokia® Eseries devices
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 or later
Problem
After installing BlackBerry Connect software on a Nokia device, installing BlackBerry Connect Desktop software on a computer, generating keys and enabling the wireless calendar, the Nokia device user is unable to send or receive email messages using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
When attempting to send an email message, the following error message is displayed in the inbox:
Subject: BlackBerry Service Error
Body of email:
Decryption failure. Connect the device to your computer
Cause
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption is enabled on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
BlackBerry Connect software 2.0 and 2.1 does not support AES encryption.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to change the encryption for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to
3DES and AES in order to support both Triple Data Encryption Standard (Triple DES) encryption and AES encryption.
- Connect the Nokia device enabled with BlackBerry Connect software to the computer.
- Launch the BlackBerry Connect Desktop and click Connect.
- When prompted to enable the wireless calendar
Select Yes if it has not been enabled before and needs to be enabled now.
OR
Select No if it has already been enabled or it does not need to be enabled now.
Wait until the Sending Provisioning Information dialog box disappears.
- Disconnect the BlackBerry enabled device from the computer.
The BlackBerry enabled device will now have a Triple DES encryption key and you will be able to send and receive email using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
